My grandma told me to stop buying the blue Dawn and I ignored her for a year
My grandma has been washing dishes by hand for something like 50 years and she always told me the blue Dawn was too harsh for everyday use but I figured she was just being old fashioned about it. I kept using it anyway for about a year because it cut grease faster than anything else in my sink. Then last winter my hands started cracking so bad that my knuckles bled and I had to wear cotton gloves to bed just to sleep. I finally tried her suggestion and switched to a milder soap with aloe for daily stuff, and after about 3 weeks my hands were back to normal. I still keep a small bottle of the heavy duty kind under the sink for greasy pans, but I use maybe a quarter of what I used to. Funny thing is she never said the strong stuff was bad, she just meant it was for the hard jobs. I feel kind of dumb for not listening sooner. Anyone else have a family member whose dish washing advice turned out to be spot on?
