The crosswalk signal on Maple Street went from 18 seconds to 32 seconds, and my whole walk to the bus changed
I walk to the bus stop on Maple Street every morning around 7:15, and for two years the light gave walkers 18 seconds to cross four lanes. Back in March the city swapped in new signal heads and now it holds the walk sign for 32 seconds, which sounds small until you time it. I checked with the crossing guard at the corner and she said the change came after a count of older folks getting stuck halfway last fall. The weird part is my whole route feels calmer now, and I get to the stop with time to spare instead of jogging. Has anyone else seen a crossing time bumped on their usual route, and did it change how you plan your walk?
