Showerthought: my neighbor in Rotterdam talked me out of the bike lane design I've pushed for 3 years
I've been the loud one at every community meeting saying our street needs a fully separated bike lane, no debate, end of story. Then last month my neighbor Bram, who's 71 and has biked that same route since 1978, asked me one simple thing: separated from what, and for who? He pointed out that our street has 4 bus stops and a market on Tuesdays, so a hard barrier would push delivery vans and shoppers into the same lane as kids on bikes. Now I'm not so sure the separated lane is the right call here. Anyone else had an older resident change their mind on a design you were sure about?
