Question about cutting bus shelter glass costs by going with 8mm polycarbonate at the Maple Ave stop
We had a problem last month with the shelter panels at the Maple Ave stop getting cracked twice in six weeks, and replacing tempered glass was running us about $600 a panel. I tried swapping two of the panels for 8mm polycarbonate and they've held up through the last cold snap, but now I'm torn. Some folks on the crew say it scratches too easy and gets that cloudy look after a year, others say at that price we can afford to swap them out twice as often as glass. Curious if anyone here has run polycarbonate panels for a full winter and how they held up.
