Rant: I avoided the buffet for 3 cruises because everyone said it was gross, then I actually ate there
I sailed out of Miami three times and never once touched the Windjammer buffet. Everyone online said it was a zoo, cold food, people grabbing with their hands. So I did the main dining room every night and paid extra for the steakhouse twice. Then last month on a 7 day run to Cozumel my wife got seasick and didn't want to sit through a 90 minute dinner. We hit the buffet at 8pm expecting the worst. It was clean, the carving station guy sliced me fresh prime rib, and the Indian curry beat anything I had in the dining room all week. I felt like such an idiot for spending $140 on specialty dining when this was free. Next trip I'm eating there every night. Has anyone else skipped something on a ship for years because of forum horror stories and then found out it was actually fine?
