I finally stopped using the buffet on embarkation day after what I saw in Galveston
Last month I was on a 7 day Western Caribbean run out of Galveston and I watched a guy in the Windjammer at 1pm on day one stack six plates of shrimp like he was prepping for a famine. I used to do the same thing, hit the buffet the second I got on board because it felt like the food was "free" and I'd already paid for it. Then I did the math and figured out I was eating about $8 worth of cold pasta while missing the sit down lunch in the main dining room that was included anyway. Now I go straight to the dining room, order the salmon, and I'm done in 40 minutes with a real plate and somebody bringing me water. My wife thinks I'm being a snob about it. I think the buffet on day one is a trap full of tired people with luggage who all showed up at the same time. Which side are you on, do you hit the buffet first thing or do you go straight to the sit down spot?
