My neighbor's porch light stayed on for 6 weeks straight, then I tried two ways to check on him and one got me actual answers
My next door neighbor Walt is 74 and lives alone, and about six weeks back I noticed his porch light never turned off. Day and night, that yellow bulb just burned. I figured he left it on by mistake, but after a week I started getting a weird feeling, so I tried the friendly route first. I baked some banana bread, walked over, knocked, and got nothing but his dog barking inside. For two more weeks I did that same thing, knocking, calling his phone, leaving notes, and I got zero response. Then my wife said to stop being polite and just call the non emergency line, and honestly that was the difference. A deputy came out the same night, found Walt on the floor after a fall, and he'd been down there for almost two days. He's recovering at his sister's place in Toledo now and the light is finally off. So my question is, if you've got a neighbor who goes quiet, do you keep knocking or do you make the call sooner?
