Chose the riverside path over the ridge trail, glad I did
Last Saturday I had two options for a writing break: a quiet bench by the Cedar River or a hike up the ridge with a view. I picked the riverside because I needed noise to drown out my own plotting doubts. Ended up watching a heron stab at minnows for 20 minutes and that gave me the exact scene setup I was stuck on for my mystery chapter. Has anyone else found that forcing yourself to pick the less scenic option actually boosts your story ideas?
