Serious question, tried a $30 load cell on my 5 ton chainfall in Tacoma last month, got numbers I still can't explain
I rigged it up to check a 4,200 lb rooftop unit and the reading bounced between 3,800 and 4,600 all the way up, so I went back to watching the chain and feeling the pull like always. Now I'm second guessing every pick where the weight felt off, even though nothing has ever actually slipped on me in 11 years of running. Did these cheap gauges ever settle down for you, or is my old ear just better than a screen?

Reminds me of a bathroom scale I had that read different every time you stepped on it. I'd weigh myself three times in a row and get three different numbers, so I just stopped using it and went by how my pants fit. Some tools just don't earn their spot in the bag, sounds like yours didn't either.
