Had an old-timer tell me to stop using my brake lever as a handhold last Tuesday

He said I was wearing out the cable housing and making my lifts less precise. I changed my grip that afternoon and my boom control feels way smoother now. Any other operators get called out on a habit they didn't realize was costing them?

Well, you just found out the hard way that grabbing the brake costs more than a coffee and a donut, huh?

And the real kicker is they probably just slam them on anyways for the next five years until the rotors warp. My buddy learned that one the hard way when his whole front end started shaking like a washing machine on spin cycle. Dealership quoted him like $1,800 for new rotors and pads all around. Ended up doing it himself in his driveway with a YouTube video and a six pack.
