Vent: I mixed two leftover toners on a whim and the client loved it
So I had a client yesterday who wanted a cool, ashy brown but nothing too flat. I was out of my usual go-to shade and had maybe 20 minutes left in her appointment. I had two bottles of leftover toner from other jobs, one was a level 7 neutral and the other was a level 6 with a violet base. I just mixed them together, half and half, added my developer, and went for it. I was fully expecting to have to correct it or apologize. But when I rinsed it out, it was this perfect dimensional, smoky brown with a hint of cool tone. She was thrilled and took a bunch of selfies. I guess the lesson is that sometimes the pressure of a time crunch makes you try a weird combo that actually works. Has anyone else stumbled on a good formula by accident when you were just trying to make do?

Call that a happy little accident, Bob Ross style.

Yeah my buddy did something like that with two old tubes of color. He was in a total panic, mixed them, and it came out this perfect mushroom blonde. Client booked her next three appointments on the spot.
