Hot rollers before a blowout at my salon in Reno cut my styling time by 25 min
I know the whole trade says hot rollers are outdated and only for little old ladies, but I started using them as a first step before blowouts about 8 months ago and it changed my whole book. My client with the thickest, most stubborn 3C hair used to take me 75 minutes start to finish, and now I'm done in 50 flat. The trick is I set the rollers on dry hair with a light setting spray, let them cool for 10 while I mix color for my next client, then blow out the roots only. The curl pattern locks in way faster and I use way less heat on the mids and ends, so her hair isn't fried by week 3 anymore. I told two stylists at my shop in Reno and they both rolled their eyes, but their clients are the ones asking why her hair lasts longer than theirs. Has anyone else gone back to an old school tool and actually gotten faster, or am I just lucky with her texture?
