A client in Portland told me my blowouts looked 'too perfect' last month

She said it made her hair look like a helmet, which honestly made me laugh (but also think). I started using a wider barrel and adding a bit of texture spray before I finish now, just to break it up. Anyone else get a piece of feedback that made you change a basic step?

Got a similar note about my balayage looking "too stripey" once. I was so focused on clean sections I forgot about softness. Now I use a smaller brush to feather the color at the roots and blend the lines way more before I even start painting.

What kind of smaller brush do you use for that? I've tried a few and they either hold too much product or don't spread it right.
