TIL I was wrong about the whole 'birds aren't real' thing for years
I always thought it was just a funny meme, but then I saw a detailed breakdown of the 1975 CIA 'Project Aquiline' drone program in a doc. That's when it clicked that the joke was built on a real, declassified program about spy drones made to look like birds. Kinda makes you wonder what other 'jokes' have a grain of truth. Has anyone else had a conspiracy theory they dismissed, only to find a legit piece of evidence that made you pause?

I spent a solid week laughing at my friend who was scared of pigeons. Now I'm side-eyeing every crow on my power line.

That "grain of truth" part gets me. I used to roll my eyes at chemtrail people, but then I read about actual, admitted weather modification projects from decades ago. It's not poison, but it made me stop and look up at those long cloud lines differently. I get where @stella_roberts is coming from now, because once you see the little connections, you can't unsee them. It makes you question what else we're laughing at that has a real, boring government paper trail.
