Question about the 5 second rule being invented by a real researcher
I read on a university food safety page a while back that a high school intern named Jillian Clarke actually tested the 5 second rule in 2003 and won an Ig Nobel Prize for it, which totally surprised me since I always assumed it was just something moms made up. The weird part is she grew gummy bears and cookies on floor tiles in a lab and found the transfer time mattered way more than the seconds, and here I am still counting in my head at parties like it means something. Has anyone else dug into the actual studies behind these sayings we repeat, or am I the only one googling weird food myths at 1am?
