My uncle swore the water meter was rigged, so I watched it for 4 days
I always thought he was just looking for someone to blame for a high bill. He lives in Tampa and his bill jumped from $40 to $95 in one month, so I sat on his porch for 4 days and logged the meter at 7am and 7pm. The thing moved 0.2 gallons overnight when nobody used a drop, and a plumber found a slab leak under his porch. Now I half believe every "rigged meter" guy I ever laughed at, even if it was just a bad pipe. Has anyone here actually proved a utility was wrong, or does it always come back to a leak?
