Switched from a wood float to a magnesium float on a 400 sq ft driveway pour in Tucson and I am not going back
Used a wood float for 12 years because my first boss in Phoenix swore by it, but the mag float left a way tighter surface on that 4 inch slab last week, so which one do you actually keep in the truck?

Man, I remember reading a thing on a concrete forum a while back where a guy out in Vegas said the same thing. He'd run wood floats forever and then tried mag on a slab and never looked back either. Something about mag pulling the cream up better without dragging the mix around as much. I still keep a wood float in the truck for edging and little touch up spots, but the mag is what I grab first now. Tucson heat probably makes it even more obvious since the mud sets up quick out there.
