Can we talk about the old finisher who told me to wait 45 minutes before floating? He was dead right.
Worked a 24x30 slab out in Mesa back in March with this guy named Ray who's been pouring since the 80s. I was about to hop on the float right after screeding and he grabbed my arm and said give it 45 minutes, watch the bleed water. I thought he was just being slow. Waited it out and the cream set up perfect, floated clean, no tearing at all. First pour I ever did with zero of those little tears you fight all day. What's your rule of thumb for timing the float in that desert heat?
