Update: I swapped a client's thermal paste with a graphite pad on a gaming laptop and the temps went up 8 degrees.
I learned that sometimes the old-school stuff (like good paste) just works better, even if the new thing seems easier, so has anyone else had a bad result with those pads on a specific chip like an Intel i7-12700H?

Graphite pads are a total gamble on laptops.

Yeah, it's not just the gamble... it's how they can actually make things worse. If the heatsink pressure isn't perfect, that pad just creates a tiny air gap and your temps go up instead of down. Seen so many people fight with that for weeks before just going back to paste.
