Finally figured out why my USB drives kept corrupting on one bench setup
For about 4 months I kept losing data on drives I tested at my second workbench. I blamed the drives, the OS, even the customer's files. Then last Tuesday I moved a power strip and noticed the USB 3.0 hub was sitting directly on top of my PSU's cable bundle. Three feet of unshielded power cables running right under the hub. I swapped the hub to a shelf bracket and ran a fresh cable along the back rail, zero corruption since. I check that layout first now on any new bench I build. Anyone else ever traced weird hardware faults back to power cable proximity instead of the actual component?
