Our library's most borrowed tool is a $15 post hole digger

I was helping sort the check-out slips for our tool library's yearly report. Turns out, the basic two-handle post hole digger got borrowed 87 times in the past 12 months. That's way more than any power tool. Found it funny that such a simple, cheap thing is the real workhorse. Makes you think about what people actually need for weekend projects. What's the most popular item in your local tool share?

That line about "what people actually need" really hits home. I read an article once that said most shared tool programs find their basic hand tools get worn out first from constant use. It shows how many small, simple jobs are out there that don't need fancy gear. The fancy stuff just sits on the shelf waiting for that one big project.

Our library's screwdrivers look like @wesley761 described, totally beat up.
