Warning: that free neighborhood app is secretly a gossip mill

I joined our local Nextdoor knockoff in Tacoma to track package thefts, but within 3 days I realized it's just people posting blurry photos of harmless walkers and arguing about leaf blowers. Someone accused my neighbor of casing houses because he parked for 10 minutes to take a phone call, and it took the mods 6 hours to delete it. That rumor spread to two other groups before anyone checked the facts. Has anyone else watched a false post snowball like that, or do I need to just quit the app entirely?
