Switched to Kirby Morgan band masks after 10 years of neck headaches
I ran a Kirby Morgan 37 for over a decade. Figured neck pain was just part of the job. Then I borrowed a band mask from a buddy during a 14-day pipeline job off Galveston. My neck felt normal by day 3. The difference is the weight distribution. Band mask sits on your head not your neck. Anyone else make the switch and notice a difference after a long dive?

Honestly, I gotta say that's almost right but the weight thing is really about the center of gravity shifting. The band mask definitely moves the load from your neck, but it still has weight. It's more that the pressure is spread across your skull instead of hanging off your jaw and spine. A KM 37 is basically a chin weight. The band mask feels totally different after a full day in the water for sure.

Holy cow, wait. You're saying a KM 37 acts like a chin weight? I've always thought those were supposed to be the gold standard, not something that basically pulls your face down. That's a pretty wild way to think about it.
