Rant: Straight shift work beat my best month, but the chaos won the coin flip
Last month I ran 3 weeks straight on day shift in our Milwaukee shop, hit 212 parts with zero scrapped. Then we switched to nights for a rush order and I had 4 crashes in 5 days, one snapped a $60 end mill. Do you guys see better output with consistent hours or does the variety keep you sharper?

That 212 parts with zero scrap on straight days is a real number, so I get why you want to blame the night shift for the crashes. But four crashes in five days sounds less like the schedule and more like a rushed order, new setup, or just plain bad luck piling up at once. Milwaukee shops get slammed when a hot job comes through, and guys push feeds and speeds too hard to hit the ship date. Variety does not make you sharper on its own, it just adds more chances to screw up when you are already tired. What did the night shift change besides the hours?
