My shop's new guy keeps calling the coolant pump a 'squirt motor'
He's been here for three weeks and every time the machine needs coolant, he yells 'the squirt motor's acting up again'. I had to pull him aside and explain that the Haas VF-2 manual on page 47 clearly labels it as the high-pressure coolant pump. He said his last shop in Dayton called it that for ten years. Has anyone else run into weird nicknames for basic parts that just sound wrong?

Ever heard @ivan40's "wiggle wagon" in person?

Saw a post on a machining forum once where a guy called the spindle a "spinny boy". That one stuck with me. The worst was probably hearing a lathe's cross slide called the "wiggle wagon". It's funny how these names get started in one shop and sound totally normal there, but anywhere else you'd get some weird looks.
