Finally figured out why my offsets kept drifting on the Haas

Took me 6 months of random tool height errors to realize the wiper on the probe was shot. It was leaving a tiny film of coolant on the stylus, so every touch off was reading about .002 low. I only caught it when I ran a test part with a brand new probe from the drawer and the numbers matched the drawing exactly. Swapped the wiper for a $12 one from McMaster and zero issues since. Anyone else ever chase a phantom offset problem that turned out to be a cheap wear part?
