Appreciation post: My dad finally understood my CNC work
I've been a CNC operator for a while now, and my dad never really knew what that meant. He'd just nod when I talked about work. Over the weekend, I brought home a bracket I machined for his classic car restoration. His eyes lit up when he saw the finish and fit... he kept turning it over in his hands. We ended up chatting for hours about how the machine cuts metal and holds tight tolerances. It was the first time he truly got why I love this job. That connection... it's a small win that made my whole week.

Oh man, that's such a real thing. I see this all the time, how a physical thing you MADE can explain your whole world better than words ever could. It's like people need to hold the proof in their hands to have that lightbulb moment. Those little wins of being truly seen for what you do are everything.

Actually, for me words on a page can hit different than holding something ever could.
