Spent 3 hours chasing a rattle in my 66 Mustang that turned out to be a 50 cent exhaust hanger
I finally tracked down this annoying rattle that's been driving me nuts since March, and it was the dumbest thing. Turns out one of my exhaust hangers had a worn rubber isolator that was letting the pipe slap against the frame over bumps. I'd been under there twice with a rubber mallet and a flashlight and somehow missed it both times. My neighbor pointed it out in about 30 seconds when I had the car idling in the driveway. How many of you check the cheap stuff first before tearing into bigger jobs?
