The way we sealed flues back then... different world.

I can still smell the old mortar mix we used... had to heat it up just right. Now it's all pre-mixed tubes that go on cold. Saves time but... you lose that craft feel. My hands don't ache like they used to, though.

Art versus function is a tough trade off. Good weather still beats good looks for hiking any day.
