PSA: A customer's chimney went from a 2-inch creosote crust to clean brick in one visit

Did a job in Springfield last month where the fireplace hadn't been touched in maybe 15 years. The flue was almost shut with buildup. I used a heavy duty poly brush with my rotary system, but the real change came from letting a specific creosote remover gel sit for the full 20 minutes the can says. The before and after was night and day. Anyone else have a go-to chemical for those really bad ones?

Springfield... that's just a couple towns over from me. A 2-inch crust is wild enough, but the flue being almost shut after 15 years... I've seen some bad ones, but that's a whole other level of neglect. Letting that gel sit for the full time must have been the key, because sometimes you rush it. I'm honestly surprised the whole system was still safe to work on.

Wow, that's a serious turnaround... @miller.eva makes a good point about safety, but I'm stuck on the gel. What's the actual name of that specific remover you used?
