Watched a 2x4 kick back off a table saw at the Denver job site last month

It missed the guy's leg by an inch because he was standing in the wrong spot. Anyone else have a close call that made you change your setup routine?

That's a scary situation, but calling it the wrong spot feels off. The real problem is using a table saw without a riving knife or splitter. That kickback happens when the wood pinches the blade, and those safety parts stop it. Blaming where someone stands misses the point. Shouldn't the focus be on making sure the tool itself is set up right to prevent that force?
