Swore off pre-hung door slabs after one blew apart on me in Topeka
I used to grab pre-hung slabs for every interior job since they save so much time. Then a cheap hollow core one split at the bottom hinge right as I was hanging it in a rental over in Topeka, and the whole thing sagged on the jamb. I stood there holding a falling door with the tenant watching and just about lost it. Now I frame and hang my own slabs with solid core stock, takes me about 20 extra minutes but I haven't had one fail since. Any of you still use pre-hung for rentals, or did one bad batch turn you off too?
