Old timer at the lumber yard told me to stop using nails for deck boards

Back when I built my first deck in 2018, this older carpenter said I'd regret using nails instead of screws. Sure enough, after two winters, those nails started popping up all over. Has anyone else had an old head give you advice that actually held up?

Used coated deck screws instead. First time I didn't listen to old timer advice and paid for it. Trust the guys who have been doing this longer than you've been alive.
