Had to pick between a circular saw and a track saw for my kitchen cabinets

I was bidding on a kitchen reno in Tucson and had to decide whether to stick with my old circular saw and a clamped straightedge or drop $500 on a track saw for the cabinet builds. Went with the track saw after a buddy swore by it. First cut on melamine was clean no chipout, but setting up the track on every single panel ate up time on the first cabinet box. Got faster by the third door though. Anyone else make the switch and find it worth it for cabinet work over a basic saw?

Oh man, that track saw is a game changer once you get the hang of it. I did the exact same thing for my own kitchen cabinets a couple years back. The first few cuts were slow with the track setup but once you get a rhythm going it really pays off, especially on melamine where chipout is brutal. I still keep my circular saw around for rough stuff but for any finish work the track saw is all I use now. Definitely worth the money if you do a lot of cabinet work.

Yo my buddy got one last summer for his basement bar project and he swore by it. He kept texting me pics of his cuts all clean and perfect, no chipping at all on the plywood. Said it took him like an hour to figure out the track alignment but after that he was flying through sheets. He even brought it to my place to help with some shelves and I was honestly impressed, thing made me look way better at woodworking than I actually am lol.
