Got burned on a $80 palm nailer from that discount tool site
That knockoff palm nailer I grabbed online lasted exactly 4 hours before the trigger mechanism locked up on a soffit job in Toledo. I thought I was being smart skipping the big brand but now I'm out the cash and had to rent one from Home Depot to finish. Anyone else had a cheap tool totally flop on them?.

Oh man, I feel your pain on that "being smart" line. I bought a knockoff angle grinder once because I thought I was saving a bundle and it literally caught fire after cutting three pieces of rebar. Scared the crap out of me and I had to explain to my neighbor why there was a burn mark on my driveway. Some things you just gotta learn the hard way, like that time I tried to save money on a cordless drill battery and it died in a week. Now I only buy the name brands for tools that actually spin or strike because the cheap ones seem to have a built in self destruct timer.

My buddy Mike bought a cheap angle grinder from some random website and after like 2 minutes of use the guard flew off and almost hit him in the face. He still has the scar on his driveway from where it dug in. Totally agree with you @alicem29, some things you just gotta pay up for safety.
