First time using a router sled for flattening slabs

Finally got a router sled working in my garage. That slab had a 1/4 inch twist in it. Took me three tries to build a level enough frame. But after 45 minutes of passes it came out dead flat. Anyone else still use the old school method with hand planes instead?

THREE tries to build a level frame? That is WILD dedication. I would have given up after the first attempt and just bought a planer. 45 minutes of passes sounds like a workout too, my arms hurt just thinking about it. Hand planes for flattening slabs? Man, that sounds like pure suffering unless you're some kind of wizard with sharp irons.

aint it funny how we'll spend hours fighting with something instead of taking the 10 minutes to find a smarter way? @umamurphy thats basically every woodworking project i do, i swear i overcomplicate stuff just to prove i can. honestly though theres something satisfying about pushing through the struggle even when you know theres an easier route.
