Serious question, did the 60 year old trainer at my gym actually have better form than me on a $12 membership?
I was at the rec center in Fort Wayne last week and saw a guy who had to be at least 60 doing goblet squats with a 25 pound dumbbell. His depth and control were cleaner than half the young guys I see doing heavy work, and he told me he has been lifting since 1984 with no coach, just a library book he checked out in high school. That made me think about how much of my own career advice came from expensive courses when the basics were free the whole time. Honestly it stung a little. Has anyone else had an older lifter or coworker show them that the simple stuff still works best?
