I asked my boss for a $2 raise in writing and got a whole new job instead
I handed him a one page note last Tuesday listing what I handle on my route and he called me into the office two days later with a supervisor opening I never applied for. Now I'm training three new drivers at the depot in Toledo and honestly I'm not sure I want it, so has anyone taken a promotion just because it fell in their lap and how did that go?
Back when my cousin got handed a shift lead spot he never asked for, he took it and spent six months learning he hated the paperwork way more than the driving. Turned out fine in the end since he stepped back down and kept the pay bump. Point is, you can always try it and bail if it stinks, that part is up to you.
