Pro tip: tape your fort seams on the inside or the whole thing sags by morning
Built a two room fort with my kids last Saturday using about 14 boxes from the appliance store on Route 9. I taped every seam on the outside where you could see it, felt pretty good about it, and we went to bed. Next morning the tunnel section had folded in on itself like a soggy taco because the tape was fighting the weight from the wrong side. Redid it with the tape on the inside of each joint and it has held for 9 days now, even with my 6 year old using it as a slide. Anyone figured out a cheap way to brace the tall tower part so it stops leaning?
Isnt that just how it goes with everything, the fix that lasts is usually the one you can't see? Same thing happens when I hang a shelf, the stud behind the wall does the real work, not the pretty bracket on the front. For your tower, try sticking rolled up newspaper tubes in the corners with tape, they add a lot of push for almost nothing.
