My first fort took 12 boxes and a roll of duct tape

Back in 2015 I built a basic two-room fort with just moving boxes and a lot of tape, but now I'm looking at fan builds with LED lights and multi-level designs. What changed the most for you between your first fort and your latest one?

My buddy Mark once showed up to my apartment with this insane fort he built for his kid. He actually cut door holes in the boxes and made a cardboard chandelier with Christmas lights. The tape job was so clean you could barely see the seams. I was just impressed he didn't accidentally trap himself inside like I did with my first one.

I built my first fort with way too much ambition and not nearly enough structural thinking. Took me a good ten minutes to realize I couldn't get out without collapsing the whole thing on myself.
