Caught my kid saying my forts are too plain
Honestly, I always thought the point of a cardboard fort was just making a roof and some walls. But last week I heard my 7-year-old tell his friend on a video call that my designs look boring and we need windows, a door with a handle, and maybe a tower. That hit me hard because he's right, I never think about adding details. So I spent yesterday cutting out arch windows and a little drawbridge, and he actually wanted to hang out in the fort with me for like an hour. Has anyone else had their kid call them out on a lack of creativity?

My brother-in-law who builds theater sets actually said the same thing to me once. He pointed out that a plain box is just a box, but add one window and suddenly it's a house. I kinda see his point now.

Nah I gotta push back on that one, @seth_allen. A box with a window is still just a box with a hole in it. The only thing that makes it a house is the roof over your head and four walls, which a box already has.
