PSA: My $12 'quick' oil change at Jiffy Lube turned into a 4 hour wait and a $400 repair quote
Went in last Saturday at the Jiffy Lube on Franklin Ave in Minneapolis expecting to be out in 20 minutes, but they stripped my drain plug and told me I needed a whole new oil pan for $400. I told them no way, called my buddy who owns a shop in St. Paul, and he fixed it with a $9 oversized plug in about 10 minutes. So now I'm sitting at home with a busted Saturday afternoon and a car I don't fully trust, which means my hiking trip to Duluth is probably off too. Has anyone else gotten a shady upsell at a quick lube place, or am I just unlucky?
