Tarp stake loops stopped tearing after I switched to shock cord
My 10x12 tarp used to lose a stake loop every other trip, usually on windy nights at Black Rock Desert. I replaced the factory webbing loops with short lengths of 1/4 inch shock cord tied to the grommets, and seven weekends later not a single one has failed. Has anyone else tried this trick, or do you just accept torn loops as a normal camping expense?

Funny how the same idea works for tents, tarps, and even my truck's antenna mount.
