Showerthought: That $10 fleece blanket I grabbed at Walmart outlasted my $150 sleeping bag liner

I was camping in Shenandoah last spring and my fancy liner tore after like 3 uses. I was annoyed so I just grabbed a cheap fleece throw from the car and used that instead. Three seasons later that blanket is still going strong and I've retired the liner. Anyone else find a random piece of gear that just works better than the expensive version?

Honestly this is so me. I spent like $80 on some fancy merino wool base layer that supposedly regulates temperature perfectly and what actually gets me through the cold mornings is a ratty Champion hoodie I stole from my brother in 2016. Pretty sure I've spent more on gear that I hate than gear I actually like at this point. My most expensive jacket is the one I grab the least because I'm scared to get it dirty. Meanwhile the cheap fleece is covered in campfire holes and it's still my go to.
