Showerthought: a guy at the Grand Rapids REI told me to stop counting grams, and now I pack 4 pounds heavier
About 3 years ago I posted my full gear list on here and someone said "you are packing for a spreadsheet, not a campsite." I ignored it for a while, but after one trip where my 1.2 pound sleeping pad left my hip bruised for 5 days, I finally swapped it for a bulky foam one and started bringing a real pillow and a chair. Now the internet fights about this: is shaving ounces the smart way to go, or does counting grams just make you cold and sore while the scale wins? Curious where you all land, and what is the one heavy thing you refuse to leave home?
