Dropped $95 on a "collapsible" camp lantern that turned into a 3 hour puzzle in the dark
So last month I'm at a campsite near Leadville, Colorado, about 9,000 feet up, and I finally decide to crack open this lantern I bought at a REI garage sale for $95. The box said it folds down to the size of a soda can and sets up in seconds. Cool, right? I get to camp around dusk, no big deal, and I start trying to pop this thing open. Twenty minutes later I'm still there fighting with it, my hands are frozen, and my buddy is just watching me with his headlamp like I'm a circus act. Turns out the little tabs need to line up a super specific way or the whole thing locks up, and the instructions were a single picture with no words. I ended up using my phone flashlight the rest of the weekend and it died by Saturday morning. So yeah, I lost $95 and a solid chunk of my sanity. Has anyone else had a piece of gear that was way harder to use than it had any right to be?
