Just realized my Nikon FE's mirror was slapping the foam I installed too thick 3 months ago
I finally got around to re-foaming my Nikon FE about 3 months back using some 2mm craft foam from the craft shop down on Main St, and last night the mirror started sticking halfway up on frame 12 of a roll. Turns out the foam was just a hair too thick and the mirror was hitting it at the top of its swing, which also explains that weird dull clack I have been hearing since spring. Has anyone else run into foam thickness issues on older SLRs, and is there a go-to mm measurement you all stick with for mirror bumpers?
