After 12 years of flexing shutter blades with tweezers, a jeweler's screwdriver changed my whole approach

I was at a shop in Portland last month and the old timer there watched me struggle with a sticky Copal square and just handed me a tiny screwdriver to run along the pivot edge, which cleared the oil film in one pass, so why did I never think of that and has anyone else been doing this the hard way?
