A bench grinder at a Tulsa flea market fixed my lens ring in 5 minutes

Stopped by a random vendor's stall last Saturday and he let me use his worn-down grinding wheel to smooth the burr on my 50mm aperture ring, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had luck with improvised tools like that in the field?
