Unpopular opinion: stapling cable to the side of a stud beats running a fancy J-hook every time

I tried J-hooks on a 40 drop apartment job in Mesa last month and the sag between them made the whole run look sloppy, so I went back to staples on the stud sides and it pulled tight and clean in half the time. Am I missing something about why everyone swears J-hooks are the only way for residential?
